You can divide golf balls into two basic categories:
1. “Low performance” golf balls with ionomer covers (usually brand name: Surlyn)
2. “High performance” golf balls (spin, feel, trajectory, etc.) with urethane covers
All the top golf ball manufacturers (Titleist, Callaway, TaylorMade, Bridgestone, Srixon) use urethane covers in their high-end, tour-caliber models.
However, most color golf balls on the market are cheap, plastic, Surlyn-covered, and don’t even look good.
